The Borough of Montoursville is located in Lycoming County and is five miles east of the City of Williamsport . The Borough occupies about 4.2 square miles and has a population of 4,777 (2000 census). The Borough is bound on the north by Interstate I-180, on the west by the Loyalsock Creek, on the south by the Susquehanna River and the east by Fairfield Township . The Borough has twenty-eight (28) miles of paved streets and two-hundred (200) acres of municipal recreation areas. The Borough also owns the Montoursville Borough Water Works, with five wells and an artesian spring. We supply water to an estimated 2,100 residences, plus business and industrial customers.

BOROUGH UPDATING ZONING ORDINANCE
A committee formed by Borough Council to update the existing 30-year-old Zoning Ordinace has been meeting monthly since 2006 with its consultant, Mr. Douglas Hovey, Senior Planner, Cummings & Smith, Inc., Allenwood, PA. The committee is made up of representatives from Council, Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Board and the Zoning Officer. Also, The Borough has partnered with the Lycoming County Planning Commission to assit the committee in updating the Zoning Ordinance. The County Planning Commission was able to obtain a Land Use and Planning Technical Assistance Program ( LUPTAP ) grant that will cover 50 % of the estimated $8,000 cost. An initial series of public meetings were previously held on
May 19, 2008; July 31, 2008; August 21, 2008; and, November 12, 2008.
The Committee and Council are now ready to hold a Public Hearing to consider the Proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendment.
The First Public Hearing was held on Tuesday March 31, 2009, at 7:00PM. The Zoning Ordinance Amendment was not adopted that evening, changes will be considered and a second hearing will be scheduled. Changes to the proposed Zoning Ordinance have been made. A hearing will be held on Monday, July 06, 2009, at 7:00PM.
